First American edition (print number not specified) hardcover copy of Superstition & Magic by Philipp Schmidt (The Newman Press, 1963). A very rare and unique view of a wide variety of occult / paranormal / supernatural phenomena and alternative forms of spirituality, as seen through the eyes of a Jesuit priest.

Price clipped jacket now protected in new archival sleeve but with moderate to heavy wear, especially around the edges. Many tears some missing bits, most of which have tape on one or both sides of jacket. Some staining towards bottom of back cover and general rubbing/tanning elsewhere. Some soiling to boards and with corners bumped. Binding is faintly visible in a few gutter though spine is straight and binding remains fairly firm on the whole.
